Christmas 2011

3 items at 30% off, 2 items at 40% off, 1 item at 50% 0ff, and 2 items at 70% off, now that is a GREAT way to shop with a $40 gift card, for Michael’s Craft Store, I got from my sister for Christmas. I was like a kid in a candy store, or toy store. I ended up with almost $100 worth of scrapbooking and card making supplies.

I couldn’t wait to just dive right on in. As soon as I got back to the house, I just went for it.
I used the Recollections Christmas tree for this little tag. First I stamped the image onto white scrap paper with black ink. I used the Martha Stewart circle cutter to cut around the tree. It ended up being a 3in. circle. I used Martha Stewart color pencils to color in the tree, and then I used a glitter pen, one I got from Wal-Mart a while back, to outline the swirls and color in the star at the top of the tree. You really can’t see that in the photo, but trust me, it is there. It could be used as a gift tag, or overlay it over some different color circles on a scrapbook page, just to name 2 ways to use it.

For this card, I used black scrapbook paper and made a 5x7in card, and on the front, I cut different sized paper to cover it making sure that they were not all the same size. I don’t remember the name of the paper packet. I just remember I got it from Tuesday Morning. I got the monkey from a clear stamp packed, Recollections Animals, that I got from Michael’s. I stamped him on while scrapbook paper with black ink from Close to my Heart. He got pop dots put on the back of him and a baby bottle put in his hand. The bottle is a paper punch that I picked up from Tuesday Morning. I punched out a bottle out of yellow paper and blue paper and cut the top off the blue one. Put glue on the back of the blue one and placed it on the yellow one, that way the top of the yellow one is showing, like it is the nipple of the bottle. It got pop dots on the back of in them onto the monkey’s hand it went. The baby clothes line also came from CTMH. It is with a clear stamp packet called, Baby Steps. I used it to stamp onto different pattern papers, cut them out, put them on pop dots, and then placed them on the front of my card. I also stamped the whole stamp across the top of the card. You could also place a peace that you cut out on the clothes already stamped at the top.  I did this at the end but forgot to take another photo before I gave it to my cousin. She just had her first baby on 1/2/2012. I also stamped IT’S A BOY! on the front.

On the inside, I lined the black card with white with a 1/4in border around. Then I just placed different sized pieces of paper all over the card, arranging them until I liked what I saw then I glued them down using a glue runner I picked up from Wal-Mart. I stamped a few different images, using CTMH Baby Steps stamps onto different color and different patterned paper. I used the circle cutter to cut each one out and put pop dots on the back, and then placed them on a different color background circle that I also cut out, just a little bigger than the size of the circle with the image on it. Also put pop dots on the back of the background circles. Placed them on the card and played around with the look of it until I liked how it looked. That took more time than cutting everything out. I kept changing my mind. I, then, took the backing off the pop dots and placed them where I wanted them. After about 15 minutes of changing my mind, they were down. The word Congratulations was stamped on the page, overlapping 2 of the different color papers. I think it turned out better than what I had in my mind.

If you look at the top-middle of the inside of the card, you can see where I added a 3D bear. I got this idea from watching a video on YOUTUBE where a woman did this wonderful 3D butterfly, and I fell in love with the idea.

I had so much fun make this card. I almost didn't want to give it away. Is that sad or what. lol
Thank you for reading.

About Me

Hi out there to everyone in BLOG LAND.  My name is Nicole, aka Craft Queen. I am new to this and thought I would just go for it. I am a mother of two and I love spending as much time with my children as possible.  I am always looking for new things that I can do with them.

It has always been a passion for me to make things. I have tried so many different things. Needle point, knitting, and wood working are just to name a few. It was when I first saw a show on TV, Aleene's Creative Living, when I fell in love with Scrapbooking. What a wonderful way to show off all your memories over the years, and my children love it as well. They even have their own books and tools.

After about 10 years of Scrapbooking being my favorite thing to do with my free time, I started working for a company called Close to My Heart. It was a great way to earn extra money that I in turn, put back into Scrapbooking. While with CTMH, I started to play around with cards. I now have to say, NEW favorite. I could spend all my alone time putting all my ideas in my idea book and still wouldn’t be done.

With this blog, I would like to share what ideas I have come up with and get ideas back in return. I will be posting as I go along and hope to learn how to upload photos and videos soon.

Anyway, that is a little about me. Hope I being me didn’t put you to sleep and you feel out the computer chair and hit the floor. If you are still with me, GREAT!! We got through my first post together. YEAH!!
